Ross White lead the field to green from the pole position. White
took the lead going into turn 1 over Bradley Lewelling. White
stretched his lead over Lewelling during the first half of the
race. Just past halfway, Weaver took second and began to track
down White. As the leaders caught slower traffic, White got stuck
behind one of the slower cars. Weaver used that to his advantage
move under White and take the lead on lap 20. White fought back
trying to retake the lead on the outside. On lap 24, White pulled
alongside Weaver coming out of turn 4. The drivers made contact
which sent White into the wall at the end of the front stretch.
Weaver cruised the final six laps to take the win. Lewelling finished
second and Skylar Marlar held off Dylan Perry for third.
Colby Horner took the lead from the outside pole position from
pole sitter Jed Emert and never looked back. Emert pressured Horner
for the lead around the midway point of the race. Horner maintained
his line and went on to get the win.
Brady Lee held off late challenges from Austin Byrd to win the
street stock race. Lee was held up by some of the slower traffic.
Byrd closed in on Lee and Robbie Comer was not far behind. After
several attempts for the lead, Lee held off the challengers to
pick up the win. Byrd held off Comer to finish second.
Dustin Duncan has been the dominate force in the front wheel
drive division. Saturday’s win was no cake walk as Brandon
Porstner pressured Duncan for the first half of the race. Porstner
was able to close to Duncan’t rear bumper. Duncan flexed
his muscle for the remaining laps and pulled away for the win.
Porstner held on to finish second and Travis Weeks finished third.
The next race at Smoky Mountain Speedway will be on Saturday,
May 17 when the Hunt The Front Super Series returns for a $15,000
to win race. Details will be coming soon.
